Drive / Flight to Kathmandu
Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts from Nayapul on the trail through beautiful rice, maize, and millet around farm villages. The main trail leads to the beautiful village of Birethanti and then reaches Saulibazaar. Located on the bank of Modi River, as walk progress towards Annapurna Base Camp. Having a refreshing stop at Siwai which eventually leads us to beautiful Ghandruk village for overnight.
As the sun peeks out from the majestic mountains, with views of sun rays that shine and reflect on the snow Mountain range of Annapurna range of peaks. Walk down and climb up to Kimrung-Danda. A steep descent takes us toward the Kimrong Khola. Another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola, then a gentle walk to Chomrong. A beautiful and last permanent Gurung village, the gateway to Annapurna base camp and sanctuary. Located on the lap of the giant Annapurna massive.
From Chomrong descend on 2, 500 stone steps and cross over a bridge above Chomrong Khola. From here climb takes you to Sinuwa a small settlement, and then through a beautiful forest to reach Kuldihar. From here an easy downhill to a place called Bamboo, and then slowly climb through the cool shade of the forest. Lined with dense bamboo and rhododendron tree lines.
Ascends steadily with a few steep sections to reach a small area called Himalaya Hotel. Where tree lines stop heading into an exposed and open area out in the sun again. Facing astounding views of high peaks and the glacial Modi River below. It is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. The vegetation gets sparse, allowing magical views of the valley within sheer high rocky cliffs above with bands of wispy waterfalls.
As walk head to your dream destination towards Annapurna Base Camp and the scenic sanctuary. The climb continues gently through a river bed then over a steep trail over towards a mountainside. The hike from a place called Bagar to Machhapuchare Base Camp is somewhat strenuous. From Machhapuchare base camp, we get excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchare Himal, the famous Fishtail peak. Includes a view of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna-I, Annapurna-III, Gandharva-Chuli, and Gangapurna which is certainly a rewarding experience.
The vegetation disappears from here onwards on our way to Annapurna Base Camp, on entering the beautiful sanctuary. The walking path widens around this wonderful plateau the Annapurna Sanctuary. From here, we get sensational views of the near-vertical south East Face of Annapurna I that towers above us. The Sanctuary boasts with a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From the base camp, we again get to savour mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchare, Annapurna South, Annapurna-I, Hiunchuli, and many other peaks.
From the Annapurna base camp, we retrace our steps to Bamboo. The day trek on the downhill, so it shouldn’t be very difficult. Besides, we will always have the company of the extraordinary landscape to cheer us up. From Bamboo, an uphill to Kuldighar, followed by a downhill to Chomrong Khola. Then climb the stone steps to Chomrong, where the walk leads to descend reaching at the lovely village at Jhinu Danda. A great place for an overnight halt with an opportunity to enjoy the hot springs which is just a 20-minute walk downhill.
The next morning our last leg of the adventure from Jhinu Danda leads downhill to New Bridge and Kyumi after a few hours. Finally, our trek comes to an end on reaching at Siwai, from here we drive back to Pokhara and to Kathmandu.

Detailed Itinerary of Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu and Flight To Pokhara
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, Your guide and representative from Namaste Nepal Trekking & Research Hub will pick you up from the airport. He will be displaying the NNTR sideboard with your Name outside the airport terminal. Then guide you to the domestic terminal for your flight to Pokhara.
Note: If you are already in Kathmandu our team will pick you up from your Hotel.
The 35-minute flight to Pokhara offers a wide range of Himalayan Panorama, the countryside of Nepal, many green hills, and Riversides. Once you arrive in Pokhara Transfer to the selected hotel.
In the afternoon the pre-trip meeting will be held at your hotel. During this meeting, we will introduce the rest of the members of the crew. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Machhapuchhare, Mt. Annapurna, and Lamjung Himal. In the evening boating in the Fewa Lake and hiking up to World Peace Stupa for a Sunset view over the Pokhara Valley and the beautiful Annapurna massif.

3 Star HotelDay 2: Drive To Nayapul and Trek To Ghandruk
On the second day of the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek, After the good Breakfast, we begin with a drive from Pokhara to Nayapul which takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Nayapul, we start our trek towards the beautiful Ghandruk village. As we start our trek, we will pass through the beautiful Birethanti village where the ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) and TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) check posts are located. After a brief check, we will continue on to Shauli Bazaar, where we will have our lunch.
After lunch, we will begin our ascent towards Ghandruk village, a Gurung village located at an altitude of 1950 meters. The trek will take us around 2 hours to complete, and we will pass through the beautiful Farming land, and typical Gurung houses, experiencing the fresh mountain air and the sound of the chirping birds. Upon reaching Ghandruk village, we will be greeted by stunning views of the Annapurna range, including Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre.
Ghandruk is a picturesque village with traditional stone houses and narrow alleys. It is a popular spot for trekkers and travelers alike, and we will have the opportunity to experience the local culture and lifestyle of the Gurung people who reside here. We can visit the Gurung Cultural Museum, which provides a glimpse into the Gurung people’s culture, history, and traditions. We will also have the chance to enjoy a stunning sunset view over the mountains from Ghandruk, making for an unforgettable experience on our second day of the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Hotel With Attached BathroomsDay 3: Trek to Sinewa
You will wake up to the stunning sunrise views over the Annapurna Mountains from your bedroom window. After having breakfast, you will start your trek to Sinewa village via Chhomrong village. The trail goes through dense forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo, and it is an amazing opportunity to see various flora and fauna on the way.
The trail first ascends to Burjung dada, which offers stunning views of the Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountains. After that, you will descend steeply downhill to Burjung Khola, where you can take a tea break and rest for a while with the stunning views of the River Valley.
The trail then gradually climbs up to Chhomrong village, a beautiful Gurung Village and the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. You will stop here for lunch and descend steeply downhill to Chhomrong Khola / River. After crossing the River, you will climb up to Sinewa village, where you will spend the night.
Sinewa village is a small village with traditional houses and terraced fields. The village offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills, Chhomrong village, and mountains. It is a great place to experience the local culture and interact with the friendly villagers. You will have a comfortable night’s rest here, ready to continue your trek the following day.

Guest HouseDay 4: Trek to Deurali
The day starts with a hearty breakfast in Sinewa, followed by a gentle descent for an hour to reach the small settlement of Bamboo (2,310m). From here, we gradually climb for an hour to reach Dovan (2,500m) which is situated amidst a dense forest of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo trees. The trail continues through the forest with the sound of the Modi Khola river accompanying us all the way to the Shiva Baraha Temple (2,730m) which marks the halfway point of today’s trek.
After the temple, the trail gets steeper and we climb for about an hour to reach the Himalaya Hotel (2,920m) for a Lunch break. From here, we continue to ascend through the forest and open up into a wide plain before arriving at Hinku cave (3,100m), where we can take another short break.
After the break, we continue for another 30 minutes to reach your final destination Deurali (3,250m). Deurali is a small village that offers magnificent views of the valley below and the towering mountains surrounding it. It is a popular stopover for trekkers as it is located at the foot of the Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountain and is surrounded by lush green forests and Giant rocky hills on all sides.
At Deurali, we can rest and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding rocky hills and Modi Khola Valley before calling it a day. It is also important to stay hydrated and to drink plenty of water to avoid altitude sickness. You should also avoid alcohol and smoking as it can worsen the symptoms of altitude sickness.

Guest HouseDay 5: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
We start our day with a hearty breakfast, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Himalayan mountains. The trek from Deurali to MBC and ABC takes us to the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, a stunning natural wonder surrounded by towering peaks.
As we leave Deurali, we begin a gradual ascent toward the Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). The trail takes us through lush forests of bamboo and rhododendrons, with the sound of the Modi Khola River always nearby.
After about 2 hours of trekking, we arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m / 12,139 ft), where we are rewarded with breathtaking views of the towering Machhapuchhre (also known as “Fishtail”) mountain. The base camp is a small settlement of Guesthouses where we can take a break and enjoy a hot drink and Lunch before continuing on to ABC.
The trail from MBC to ABC takes us through a rocky and barren landscape as we ascend above the tree line towards the Annapurna Base Camp. The trail is steep in some places, but the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers make the effort more than worth it. As we climb higher, we can see the massive south face of the Annapurna mountain range towering in front of us.
Finally, after about 2 hours of trekking, we arrive at the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m / 13,550 ft). The camp is situated at the foot of the immense south face of Annapurna, surrounded by a natural wonder of towering peaks and Glaciers. From here, we can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the towering peak of Machhapuchhre.
The Annapurna Base Camp is a small settlement of a few teahouses where we will spend the night. The air here is thin and cold, but the people’s warmth and the surrounding landscape’s stunning beauty make it a truly unforgettable experience.

Guest HouseDay 6: Trek to Bamboo
After waking up early to enjoy the sunrise view from the Annapurna Base Camp, we will have breakfast before starting our descent towards Bamboo. As we leave the base camp, we’ll take a moment to appreciate the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains one last time and capture your moment.
The descent from ABC to Bamboo will take us through the same route we used on the way up, passing through MBC, Deurali, Himalaya, and Dovan. The trail is mostly downhill, but there are still some uphill sections that require some effort.
As we trek back through the dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, we’ll once again be surrounded by the lush greenery and the sound of the Modi Khola river. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the scenery, and we might even encounter some wildlife along the way.
We’ll have a lunch break at Himalaya before continuing our descent towards Bamboo. The trail will take us past numerous waterfalls and streams, and we’ll have the chance to cool off in the refreshing mist. As we descend further, the air will become warmer and more humid, signaling our return to lower elevations.
Once we arrive at Bamboo, we’ll check into our tea house and have some time to rest and relax. The tea house is located right next to the river, providing a calming atmosphere to unwind after a long day of trekking. We’ll have dinner and spend the night in the cozy tea house before continuing our trek the next day.

Guest HouseDay 7: Trek to Jhinu Dada
Our trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Dada starts with a satisfying breakfast that fuels us for the journey ahead. We followed the same trail that we had taken on our way up until we reached Chhomrong. The trail is familiar to you by now, As you walk down to the Chhomrong Khola, the stunning views of the valley below and the picturesque mountains in the distance continue to amaze you. You cross the suspension bridge and climb the steep stone steps that lead to Chhomrong village, where we stop for lunch.
After reaching Chhomrong, we descended very steeply toward the Jhinu Danda. The trail is quite tricky to navigate as it is steep and rocky, The views of the Annapurna South II, III, and IV, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the towering peak of Machhapuchhre and valley from the top are breathtaking.
Jhinu Dada is known for its natural hot springs, and we can’t wait to take a relaxing bath after the long trek. The hot spring is a 20-minute walk from your guesthouse on the bank of the Modi River. The water is hot and soothing, and it is the perfect way to soothe our tired

After breakfast, we begin our final day of the trek. The trail descends towards the Modi Khola River, passing through small villages and terraced farmlands. Along the way, we’ll enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding hills and mountains. After 2 hours of trek, we’ll reach Kyumi for our Tea Break, a small village with stunning views of Wild Honey Beehaves
From Kyumi, we’ll continue our trek towards Siwai, passing through several small villages and forests. The trail descends gently mostly following the road, offering breathtaking views of the hills and valleys below. Upon reaching Siwai, we’ll board a private vehicle and drive back to Pokhara.
The drive to Pokhara is a scenic one, passing through lush forests, rice paddies, and charming Nepalese villages. Once we arrive in Pokhara, we’ll check into our hotel and enjoy a well-deserved hot shower. In the evening, we can take a stroll around the beautiful Phewa Lake, explore the local markets, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Annapurna range from your hotel balcony.

Optional extra expenses on your guesthouses: Nowadays, most of the famous trekking trails of Nepal have got internet and electricity asses. Your policy should cover your trek, tour, and the extra time you will spend in Nepal, including helicopter evacuation. Trekking in Nepal can be really dangerous, especially in high altitudes. If you have an emergency, we can act quickly if you have a good insurance policy. It’s easy to request emergency assistance fast.
What if I cancel the trip? What is your cancellation policy?
We know unexpected things happen at unexpected times. If something unfortunate happens and you need to change your plans, you can write us an email or message us. If you give us enough time we will try our best to assist your unfortunate.
We can normally postpone your trip and apply your advance payment for any time in the future. The fund transfer process from Nepal to another country takes a long time because we need to prepare all the documents and get permission from the Central Bank of Nepal.
That’s why we encourage you all to Postpone the trip and use the credit in the future. If you need to cancel your trip completely, we, unfortunately, are unable to give you a full refund. You will be charged 30% of the package price as a cancellation charge.
What happens if I need to leave/cancel the trek early?
Anything can happen at any time during the trek. If you need to leave your trek in the middle of the trail we will provide maximum effort to make sure your safe return to Pokhara or to Kathmandu. You have to know that we will not be able to refund any money to you once the trip has started.
Health and Safety
What happens if there is any medical emergency and/or I get altitude sickness?
Anything can happen at any time during the trek. Our guides and assistance guides are trained in first aid and high-altitude risk management. They are prepared to deal with the most common problems or injuries you may get on a trek.
Apart from that, if you have any emergency or acute mountain sickness (AMS), your guide will let us know immediately. Namaste Nepal Trekking & Research Hub will be there to assist you with your Rescue if needed. NNTR trekking crew are ready to ensure your safety anytime during the trek and even carry you down to a safer place.
Is there any medicine to avoid AMS?
Yes, they have medicine for altitude sickness. It called Acetazolamide. It’s well known by its trade name Diamox. It’s used for the prevention and treatment of altitude sickness. As it is a prescription medicine, we cannot provide it here in Nepal. Please talk with your doctor before you leave home.
During the trek, some local medicines are also available to prevent altitude sickness. Ginger Lemon Honey Tea, Garlic Soup, and Hot water are the ones we believe are local medicines which can help you to prevent from altitude sickness. The best medicine is to acclimatize your body and climb slowly. If there are any symptoms, stop climbing and descend immediately is the best medcine.
Do I need crampons in Annapurna Base Camp trek?
No, for the Annapurna Base camp trek you don’t need the Crampons.
It would be ideal if you are trekking in the wintertime. In the winter, the trail from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp is normally covered with snow. The crampons can be very useful in this part of the trek.

What about the drinking water during the trek?
In Annapurna Base Camp Trek, they have a safe drinking water project to avoid Plastic use in the mountains. So, they have safe drinking water purified in the water purification station. Every single guesthouse and tea shop has this water where you can buy. You should have a water bottle with you to fill it out.
They also have boiled water or filtered water everywhere along the trekking trails. Some villages also have water purification filterer systems in Katadyn, Kent, and others. You can also use normal water after prepared with water purification tablets.
