Trip Overview
On this 11-day Manaslu Circuit Trek Package, your journey starts from the beautiful city of Pokhara and heads toward the Manaslu region. Machha Khola is the starting trekking point of the Manalsu Circuit Trek. To reach here, you will take a private Jeep from Pokhara, which takes around a 7-9 hour ride. From Machha Khola, you will trek through thick rhododendron forests, glacial rivers, and remote villages for several days to reach the Base of Manaslu Peak.
Mount Manaslu is known as the “Mountain of the Spirit.” In Sanskrit, is the world’s eighth-highest Peak with an altitude of 8,163 meters (26,781 feet). This Peak is located in the Mansiri Himal range in northern Nepal, near the border with Tibet.

The Highest point that you will reach on this Manaslu Circuit trek from Pokhara is Larke la Mountain Pass(5,106 meters, 16,752 feet). Unlike the busy Everest trails and Annapurna trails, the Manaslu Circuit trek route is quiet and provides a peaceful trekking experience.
Along the route, trekkers pass through Larsikhola, Sama, and Lho, where prayer flags flutter like whispered mantras in the wind. A highlight is Samagaon, the cultural heart of the circuit, home to ancient monasteries and the Manaslu Conservation Area, nestled in a lush valley.
During the journey, you will enjoy the breathtaking view of Mount Manaslu and other peaks like Ganesh Himal, Annapurna II, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Boudha Himal, NgadiChuli, and Larkya Peak. Your trek concludes at Dharapani, from where you can choose to drive back to either Pokhara or Kathmandu, completing an unforgettable journey through the Manaslu region.

Why is Manaslu Circuit Trek a Restricted Area and What You Must Know?
The Manaslu Circuit Trek lies within the Manaslu region, which is listed as a restricted area and controlled by the Government of Nepal. The Manaslu region shares the border with Nepal and Tibet (China), so it is a sensitive border region. Due to this region, extra security and control are required. So all the trekkers who want to enter the Manalgu region for the Manalsu Circuit trek must obtain the special permit along with other permits.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek trail passes through Buddhist monasteries, fragile alpine landscapes, and small villages that depend on controlled tourism. Restriction status helps to protect the wildlife, balance the ecosystem and preserve the natural beauty of Manaslu by controlling the overcrowding.
Solo Manalsu Circuit Trek is banned, and it is mandatory to hire a licensed guide. There must be a minimum of 2 people in a group, excluding the guide. It helps to keep the trekker safe, and permit fees help to support conservation efforts.
Travellers should follow the rules and regulations, respect local culture and tradition, travel responsibly and follow the leave no trace policy during the trek.

Day 6: Acclimatization and Rest Day- Hike to Manaslu Base Camp or Pun Gyen Gompa
On Day 6 of the Manaslu Circuit, you will be acclimatizing in Sama Gaun, which is about 3,530 m high. You have two wonderful hikes to choose from today that will help your body get used to the high altitude while you enjoy the beautiful views.
The Manaslu Base Camp (MBC) walk is the first choice. It takes you up to roughly 4,400 m. It’s a full-day hike (6–7 hours round way) that includes walking on glaciers and getting up close to Manaslu’s north face, glaciers, and the valley. This is perfect for hikers who want a hard and beautiful day.
The Pun Gyen Gompa climb, which goes up to about 4,050 m, is the second choice. It’s a shorter, gentler hike to a magnificent monastery with serene views of Manaslu and the valley around it. This is great for anyone who desires a more relaxing day or wants to learn about a new culture.
The “climb high, sleep low” rule applies to both hikes. You go up to a higher altitude during the day and then sleep in Sama Gaun, which helps keep you from becoming sick at high altitudes. You can also see Birendra Lake, a beautiful turquoise glacial lake, or learn about Tibetan culture and the monasteries in Sama Gaun on the way back.

Along the route, you’ll be able to see Mt. Manaslu, Himal Chuli, Ngadi Chuli, and other peaks in the area. You could also encounter animals like blue sheep and marmots. And you will pass by Mani walls and other Tibetan Buddhist cultural landmarks.

On Day 8 of the Manaslu Circuit, you will hike from Samdo (3,860 m) to Larke Phedi (Dharamsala, 4,460 m). This is a short but important uphill hike of around 4–6 kilometers (2.5–3.7 miles) that takes 3–4 hours.
This part is very important for getting used to the tough Larke La Pass. After an early breakfast in Samdo, the trek starts. It goes down for a little time to cross the Budhi Gandaki River on a suspension bridge, then up through the Salka Valley, where you can see frozen streams and beautiful mountain vistas.
Before going west to Dharamsala, you’ll pass Larke Bazaar, where trails lead to the Tibetan border. Larke Phedi is a temporary community of basic stone lodges and teahouses in a wide, empty valley. It’s a nice place to stop.
The afternoon is a great time to relax or do a short acclimatization hike while taking in the views of the Larke Glacier and the peaks around it, such as Himalchuli. Trekkers should get some sleep early so they are ready for the early start in the Alps needed to cross the Larke La Pass the next day.

Day 9: Trek from Dharamsala to Bimthang by crossing Larkya La Pass
Day 9 of the Manaslu Circuit is the hardest but most rewarding day. You hike from Dharamsala (Larke Phedi, 4,460 m) to Bimthang across the Larkya La Pass (5,106 m). You will get up early, about 3 AM, and use a headlamp to keep the fierce midday winds and snow at bay.
The walk to the pass is steep and hard, as it goes over rocky moraines and snowfields. But when you get to the top, you can see Manaslu, Annapurna II, Himlung Himal, and other peaks in all directions, with prayer flags flapping in the wind.
Once you get to the pass, you have to be careful because the trail might be icy or slippery. It goes down about 1,500 m to Bimthang. We strongly suggest that you bring trekking poles, warm clothes, waterproof layers, and microspikes.
Depending on the weather, this hike normally takes 6 to 9 hours. It’s important to walk carefully, drink plenty of water, and bring snacks. Crossing Larkya La is a real test of endurance. The views of the Himalayas are breathtaking, and the sense of accomplishment makes the effort worth it.

Day 10: Trek from Bimthang to Dharapani
On Day 10 of the Manaslu Circuit, you’ll hike from Bimthang (about 3,500–3,700 m) to Dharapani (about 1,860 m). This is an amazing variation in both elevation and scenery. The trail starts with a steep, rocky descent from the Bimthang area, from where you can see the remnants of glaciers.
As you go down, you will pass through alpine meadows and beautiful rhododendron forests. As you pass through small villages like Gho and Tilije, you’ll see beautiful panoramas of Annapurna II, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal. This is a long day of hiking that can take nearly from 6 to 8 hours, depending on how fast you walk and how the trail is.
It is an important day since it marks the end of the hardest part of the Manaslu Circuit and takes you from the harsh, high-altitude scenery around Larkya La Pass to the more pleasant, greener Marsyangdi Valley. After that, you will drive back to Kathmandu.

Useful Information about Manalsu Circuit Trek From Pokhara
The Manaslu Circuit is often described as a “once‑in‑a‑lifetime” adventure. But before you decide to join this trek, you must know how difficult the Manalsu Circuit trek is. It is graded as rated Moderate to Challenging in terms of difficulty.
Since the Manaslu Circuit trail is less crowded than other popular treks in Nepal, like Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit, the trek feels wilder and more remote, and it requires better fitness, careful acclimatization, and strong mental focus. Here are some of the risk factors that make the Manaslu Circuit trek challenging. Let’s see:
Altitude
The top challenge that trekkers need to face during the Manaslu Circuit is high altitude. Hikers often have to deal with altitude variations of 800 to 1,200 m every day. You need to cross the Larke La Pass, which is 5,106 m high, where chances of altitude sickness(AMS) are likely to happen. To minimize altitude sickness, you need to follow the “climb high, sleep low” and acclimatize properly to adjust your body to high altitude.
Terrain
The Manaslu Circuit trail is mixed with steep, rocky ascents, loose moraines and snow-covered ridges above 4,500 m. You need to cross wooden suspension bridges or stepping stones, and encounter icy sections on the pass. To stay safe and comfortable, make proper use of your trekking gear, especially trekking poles, sturdy boots, and warm layers.
Duration & Stamina
On this Manaslu Circuit Trek, you need to walk for 5–8 hours of trekking in uneven ground for several days. You will carry a weight of around 3-5 kg backpack packed with essential items like clothes and personal goods. You need to be in good shape with strong legs and cardiovascular fitness. You will have very few days to recover due to the short itinerary. To maintain fitness, do regular exercise, join fitness programmes and hike to a similar altitude to make your trekking easier.
Remoteness
Manaslu is one of the least visited trekking destinations due to special permit rules and restricted areas. Due to a smaller number of tourists compared to other trekking destinations, this place provides only basic facilities of lodging and food. You will not find modern infrastructure on the trail, and hospitals are missing. For any emergency, you need a helicopter rescue, so having insurance is important for this trek.
Weather
The weather conditions in the Manaslu region can be unpredictable sometimes. So bad weather conditions result in heavy snowfall, rainfall, sudden snowstorms or a drop in temperature. This makes trekking hard, so we must be prepared for all weather conditions by carrying proper gear, clothing, and keeping buffer days in case the weather causes delays.
As you prepare to start on this wonderful adventure from Pokhara, it’s important to establish the framework for a safe, pleasurable, and successful trek. Here are some important tips that you can follow:
Physical & Mental Prep (Start 2-3 Months Before)
All the participants, especially beginners, must focus on building strong legs, cardiovascular fitness and maintaining overall health condition. You can do exercises like jogging, cycling, swimming, or join Jym and Yoga. Practice breathing technique and focus on your goal by keeping a positive mindset and preparing mentally for the tough days.
Budget Planning
Most of the things are covered in the trekking package, but you need to manage the budget for things like International flight, travel insurance, personal expenses, etc.
Arranging flights and documents
You need to get a visa to enter Nepal, and you need to have a valid passport, health insurance policy, permits, etc. Arrange this document in advance so that you can enjoy the Manaslu Circuit Trek from Pokhara on time.
Be aware of altitude sickness
Learn the early symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, and trouble sleeping. Also, understand the basic prevention methods like staying hydrated, walking slowly, and taking proper rest. Know the treatment options, including descending to a lower altitude if symptoms get worse. This knowledge will help you stay safe throughout the trek.
Practice Safety
Safety should always be your top priority when trekking in the Himalayas. Always trek with a licensed guide, monitor health conditions and check the weather forecast before heading for the trek.
Pack proper clothing and gear

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
KAILASH MANASAROVAR LAKE TOUR WITH EVEREST BASE CAMP & LHASA.My husband and I from Italy turned to Namaste Nepal to organize our trip to Nepal and Tibet. The tour was perfectly organized by Rajan, whom we had the pleasure of meeting. He and his staff are reliable, professional, and very friendly. A demanding trip, especially for the Kailash trek, and we were truly fortunate to meet Rajan and his team, with whom we felt safe.I particularly thank Dorjee and Tashi, respectively the guide and the driver with whom we shared the journey, which was challenging but worth it, both on a human level, as well as spiritually and scenically. These are wonderful, magical places that stay with you even when you are back home.Namaste Nepal is our reference agency: when we return, we will definitely contact Rajan again, a beautiful person in every sense! Thanks again to everyone, Namaste.

Kathmandu Valley and Tibet
Rajan helped me plan my trip to Tibet for my birthday; he was really thoughtful throughout the trip. In Kathmandu he helped arrange local guides and drivers for day treks, overnight stays, temples, walks, and good eating. I didn't have set plans for my teen days in Kathmandu before Tibet but he made me and my friends fall in love with Nepal, now we want to come again just to explore more. We all really liked that he met with us multiple times to go over the coming days and how to best meet or interests. For my birthday Rajan got a thoughtful gift and hiked for two days before surprising me with the gifts. He had the local knowledge to get rooms with oxygen in Tibet, and even help arrange an overnight hot spring visit. I had never used a guide over a tour company before and the experience was so much more memorable, customised to me and my friends interests, ample time given for things we were interested in. When we wanted to walk slow to take it all in I never felt rushed. We met lots of local Tibetans, and we all meshed well with the Tibetan guide and driver too. I really like that he did not over promise, and he never under delivered. Time and time again it was made evident he had been thinking carefully about arranging us a perfect trip. I felt like I was trekking with a good friend.Outstanding!

Kailash and More ♥️
We used Nameste Nepal Trekking for our Kailash Kora and all smaller tours. Rajan created the trip of a lifetime. It was incredible, his team from drivers to porters to guides all created a personal and joyful experience for us. They did not let us miss a moment of opportunity , but still felt like we were flowing and not rushing and just loving every moment of it. It truly was a trip of a lifetime and I feel the connections we made with them and others through the business where sincere as we were melded with the culture. Will use them again for Annapurna in the future. Thankyou Rajan for your care and beautiful energy. Best prices , we absolutely got value for our money and then some. Could not be happier.

Tour of the ipsum valley and the Manaslu tour: a light-hearted journey
An organized trip with a guide that allowed us to cross 2 valleys, the one of Ipsum and the tour of the Manaslu. It was grand and beautiful. The guide knew everyone and we were always very well received in every stop we made. I recommend this experience to anyone a minimun sporty and winging desire for adventure without going too far from its comfort. Every day running water and a sleeping mat were available, in addition to having a kitchen and access to Western foodstuffs (coca, tea, coffee, beer...)A tour of the Himalayas with a light mind, because Rajan the tour operator, as well as our guide Som, ensure our well-being.I could also recommend the porters, who were of infinite kindness, and that strenuous to the least of our requests. In short, a trip or everything is taken care of and we just have to open our eyes to enjoy the spectacle of the mountains.
