Detailed Itinerary of Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley

Namaste Nepal Trekking and Research Hub’s cultural and city tour guide will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. You will have a private tourist vehicle with AC. In this sightseeing tour, you will visit the following cultural wonders of Kathmandu Valley:

Swambhunath Stupa / Monkey Temple:

Is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, Swayambhunath is among the oldest religious sites in Nepal. According to the legend, Swambhunath evolved spontaneously when the Kathmandu Valley was created out of a primordial lake more than 2,000 years ago. The Swayambhunath consists of a stupa and a variety of shrines and temples. Reconnect with your spiritual self while circumambulating the stupa in a clockwise direction and enjoy a magnificent 360-degree view of Kathmandu Valley.

Swayambhunath is additionally referred to as the Monkey Temple, and permanently reason. You’ll see many monkeys everywhere! Just stay alert and hold your belongings tightly because the monkeys will probably try to snatch them from your hands. Also, don’t stare at them directly!

Pashupatinath Temple:

Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most important and significant Hindu temples of Lord Shiva in the world. Located on the bank of the holy Bagmati River. The temple of Pashupatinath (Lord of Animals) is believed to be two thousand years old and is one of the oldest temples in the world. The temple premises comprise 559 Shiva shrines and idols. Temples dedicated to several other Hindu and Buddhist deities surround the temple of Pashupatinath.

However Major temple is strictly for Hindus only even though you are not allowed to go inside the main temple you can clearly see the temple and the activities from the other bank of the river.

Boudhanath Stupa:

Another UNESCO World Heritage site, The Boudhanath stupa is another holiest site of Kathmandu valley. It was built around the 5th century with pairs of eyes on all 4 directions keeping an eternal watch over the people and their doings. The stupa’s massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal.

As you walk through many Tibetan Buddhist Monks and Nuns are usually seen walking around the stupa. As a daily ritual, many of us walk three or more times around the stupa while repeating the mantra ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ either quietly or aloud.

The air is usually thick with incense & mantras sung by monks, & the amount of individuals visiting the Stupa increases significantly, alongside the intensity of their mantras & prayers. Boudha may be a fascinating & very spiritual area.

Patan Durbar Square:

City of Fine Arts Patan; The ancient royal palace of Patan faces the magnificent Durbar Square. This concentrated mass of temples is perhaps the most visually stunning display of Newari architecture to be seen in Nepal. The historic monument that describes the oldest architecture of Nepal is Patan Durbar Square, Temple construction in the square went into overdrive during the Malla period (14th to 18th centuries),

Kathmandu Durbar Square:

After finishing sightseeing in Patan on the way to your hotel, our driver will drop you at Kathmandu Durbar Square (only if you are staying at Thamel) from where you can walk back to Thamel through the narrow and oldest open street market of Asan.
