The year 2026 presents a truly rare and sacred opportunity for pilgrims: the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra during the Tibetan Fire Horse Year, an event that occurs only once every twelve years.
For those seeking profound spiritual growth, this is a must-do journey. According to spiritual beliefs, undertaking the Kailash Kora (circumambulation) in a Horse Year brings “tremendous blessings” and is thought to amplify spiritual energies. The Fire Horse is a symbol of bravery and ambition, qualities that are said to be intensified for pilgrims on this challenging quest.
To elevate the experience even further, the pilgrimage can be timed to coincide with the full moon, considered the “most auspicious time” for the yatra. The full moon’s reflection on the pristine waters of Lake Mansarovar is a “celestial wonder”, and a holy dip in the lake under its glow is believed to purify the soul and wash away a lifetime of negative karma.
This unique alignment of a rare Horse Year and the auspicious full moon makes 2026 a once-in-a-generation opportunity for spiritual awakening and renewal.
Namaste Nepal Trekking’s fixed departure dates for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 2026 are based on your schedule plan. The Yatra is scheduled mainly during the best travel season, which is from late May to early September. Traveling at this time offers the best view of beautiful landscapes and a magnificent view of Mt. Kailash. Good weather conditions and comfortable temperatures for trekking make it safer to travel and ease the challenging Kailash Kora Trek.
Traveling outside during this period is considered unsafe and risky due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall. Therefore, we do not recommend you to travel during the winter season and plan your journey only during the best time.
